CAMBRIDGE, MA, May 17, 2023 – actnano, Inc. has promoted Cassandra Zentner, PhD. to Vice President of Health and Environment, building on the company’s commitment to help eliminate forever chemicals from the environment.
“Dr. Zentner’s impressive technical background on fluorine chemistry has been essential as we have continued our focus on providing effective coating solutions that are both human-safe and environmentally friendly,” said Taymur Ahmad, CEO. “She has been a senior member of the actnano team for nearly three years and as head of our Health and Environment group, she will continue to leverage her knowledge and keep actnano at the forefront of innovative technology and environmental stewardship.”
A scientist by trade, Dr. Zentner has focused her career on new product technologies that are able to solve a problem.
“Eliminating forever chemicals through PFAS-free alternatives is vital for protecting the health of communities and future generations. The adoption of alternatives safeguards both human and environmental well-being by reducing exposure to harmful substances,” said Dr. Zentner. “I am excited for the opportunity to apply my chemical expertise to help actnano achieve sustainable and reliable solutions.”
Dr. Zentner earned her doctorate in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT), where she was selected as a MIT Presidential Fellow. She received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Chemistry from Oberlin College. Her research has been featured in numerous journals including ACS Central Science, Chemistry of Materials, and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. In addition, Dr. Zentner is an inventor on three patent applications.
